No relationship is perfect, ever. There are always some ways you have to bend, to compromise, to give something up in order to gain something greater…The love we have for each other is bigger than these small differences. And that’s the key. It’s like a big pie chart, and the love in a relationship has to be the biggest piece. Love can make up for a lot.
Sarah Dessen, This Lullaby (via wordsnquotes)

pomfette:

if you miss someone who does not miss you, or who is no good for you, or is unattainable, take all the love you once felt for them and spread it around other places. put your love in worthwhile people and things, turn the romance in to passions for hobbies or admiration for others- enrich your own life. focus on yourself and those who actively make you happy.

Flickering Lights

Give me all the flickering lights!
tiny specs of fluttering rays
and city glitters shimmering
but only from far away.
I want them all it’s an addiction
I want the christmas lights buried in snow
and the blips in science fiction
films from years ago.

Give me all the night sky’s twinkling sprinkles
and the red pulsing eyes
on tvs that standby
fading, flirting in and out
like a game of cat and mouse.
Bits of foil in the distance
blowing kisses from the sun to me and
showing no resistance to the photons
that consistently pass notes on
from one lover to the other
like cupids tiny brothers.

Give me all the flickering lights.
Light every candle and wave every phone
glinting and bleeping and
imprintining glowing circuses
that linger while I’m sleeping.
An orchestra of weeping light
swan singing like star crossed choirs
who play themselves to me
all night.

I’m in this! I was there! It was one of my favorite parts.

I pulled myself up and told myself to stop these ridiculous thoughts, wondering why it is that we can never stop trying to analyse the motives of people who have no personal interest in us, in the vain hope of finding that perhaps they may have just a little after all.
Barbara Pym, Excellent Women (via wordsnquotes)
Your mind has a way of not letting you forget things you wish you could. Especially with people. Like, you’ll always try your best to forget things that people say to you or about you, but you always remember. And you’ll try to forget things you’ve seen that no one should see, but you just can’t do it. And when you try to forget someone’s face, you can’t get it out of your head.
John Corey Whaley, Where Things Come Back (via wordsnquotes)

Designer Goula Figeura’s Orwell day bed lets you easily shut yourself off from the outside world with its light and noise-cancelling curtains.

I want the thing.
